I designed Fam. to help families stay organized with the efficiencies of a family assistant helping them along the way.

Background

Parents are incredibly busy these days. As a working parent myself, I noticed the constant struggle among my peers of trying to keep up with the schedule. We have so much technology at our fingertips but I was seeing a lot of technologically fluent parents floundering in the chaotic schedules of their lives.

What was it about the current methods or apps that weren’t working? What did they have to manage in their day-to-day lives that is seemingly so difficult?

The Problems

I interviewed several sets of families of different genders and roles within the family structure to gather insights into their lives and understand where this juggling act comes from.

I also did a competitve analysis of what was already on the market and then asked participants of the interview regarding said available products, if and how they used them.

Support User Insights

To schedule quickly and efficiently, busy parents need a format that prioritizes the most pertinent information. The interface needed to be straightforward and concise. Busy parents don’t have time to go through all the customizable aspects of the calendar.
